Minicraft 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf-109E-7/8
Gruppenstab 111 / SKG210 (Wespen-Geschwader)
Central Sector of the Eastern Front, 1941

The fighters of the four luftflotten engaged on the Eastern Front during Germany's assault on Russia included both Messerschmitt Bf-109F's and Bf-109E's. These versatile aircraft served in many roles and and were the backbone of the Luftwaffe. Armed with two cannons and two machine guns, the Bf 109's design underwent constant revisions, which allowed it to remain competitive until the end of the war. This model is a Bf109E-7/8 of Gruppenstab 111/SKG 210 or Wespen-Geschwader ( Wasp Squadron ) which served on the Eastern front central sector in the Autumn of 1941.

This was a typical 109 kit with nice recessed panel lines and cool decals of the Wasp Squadron. It was a fun build with no vices. I used the kits supplied wasp decals & codes but supplemented aftermarket insignia. They may look like they silvered, but they are actually slightly out of register and the white can be seen outside the black outline.
