I./JG 77 was transferred to the Mediterranean from Norway in 1942. JG 77 saw extensive action against the Desert Air Force fighter-bombers, claiming dozens of kills while while under constant air attack. The Geschwader was tasked with protecting the retreating Afrika Korps and by April 1943, they were the sole fighter force in North Africa. The unit flew out in May 1943 having suffered heavy losses and claiming 333 allied aircraft.
This is an older Jo-Hann kit that allows you to build 3 Ace aircraft in the F or G model. Additional armament included with the kit are under wing rockets, gun packs, drop tank or a bomb. The fit was OK with the cockpit glass being the hardest to get together - it was designed to be positioned open but the cockpit is very sparse so I trimmed it up and closed it. I think the landing gear sits too high but I left it as is.
