The Bearcat was one of fastest and most agile piston-engine fighters ever built. Grumman, in its desire to go faster and better, decided to emulate the Griffon-engine Spitfire Mk.47 with it contra-rotating propeller system. One airframe was modified and tested. It was only marginally faster and more maneuverable than the stock airframe and engine, so it was converted back into stock form and issued to the Navy. This is the FROG Bearcat. It is the first one that I have built after building at least a dozen of the Monogram kits over the years. It is OOB except for a scrap gearbox extension and a propeller unit from a FROG Shackelton. I used an old tin of Humbrol Glossy Sea Blue and kit decals.

Adios, Larry.
